Stretch Mark Creams
All stretch mark creams claim to do 2 things, and there are generally 2 objectives we want to achieve when using a stretch mark cream.
1. To prevent stretch marks from appearing or
2. To get rid of existing stretch marks.
At this stage, I’ve yet to come across a stretch mark cream that will totally eradicate those unsightly streaks on the belly, hips and buttocks. That’s not to say that stretch mark creams don’t work in helping to get rid of stretch marks, but it is just part of the solution.
Basically, stretch marks are caused by the loss of skin’s elastin and collagen and contributing factors may include:
Heriditary – It has been suggested that some people are more genetically prone to stretch marks than others. If your mother or sisters develop stretch marks, the chances are, you will develop stretch marks.
Sudden continuous stretching of the skin – usually around the belly, hips and buttoch area during pregnancy or for people who have a sudden jump in weight gain. Body fat has a role to play in the development of stretch marks, so they can affect anyone who gains weight rapidly
Poor nutrition & Hydration – Supple & hydrated skin will stretch better. Make sure to keep your body hydrated all the time by drinking plenty of water and keeping the skin moisturized by applying a toxic free stretch cream.
A stretch mark cream works by repairing collagen, increasing cell regeneration and helping in the skin’s elastic production. So it will work much better at preventing stretch marks. To minimize and reduce the number of stretch marks you get during pregnancy, the trick is to start your skin care regime early, preferably 1 – 2 months into your pregnancy. Drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated, constantly massage the affected areas with a good massage oil to increase the blood circulation and to increase skin elasticity, and use a rich stretch mark cream for your belly and hips area to keep your skin well moisturized.
For getting rid of existing stretch marks, the feedback that we are getting from our members is that the best combination is doing plenty of exercise, drinking plenty of fluids, adopting a diet rich in vitamins and minerals and apply the stretch mark cream to the effected areas twice a day. You will notice a 60% reduction in visible marks within 3 – 6 months. It’s also the most cost effective natural method.
If you are not happy with the results, you can opt for more expensive (but not necessarily more effective) treatments such as laser scar removal or stretch mark surgery. Results are more instant but it may cost you thousands of dollars depending on the seriousness of the stretch mark scars. One is a vascular laser, which is virtually painless and can reduce the colour and texture of the marks in some people.
For a natural approach, here are some great products to help prevent stretch marks from developing. During pregnancy avoid stretch mark creams contain retenoid or vitamin A derivatives.
It’s specially formulated to help skin retain moisture and elasticity during your pregnancy. Keeping your skin healthy during pregnancy means more comfort now and helps belly bounce back into shape later. Phthalate- and paraben-free.

I continuously despairing with my stretch marks. Once have a new baby, my skin look not good. I’m looking for a lot of information about stretch mark and the end I build blog about stretch mark.
Thanks for this useful info.
It is a typical pores and skin issue, which is mostly prevalent among women. About 70-80 % women encounter this issue during and right after their being pregnant. Even other elements such as bodybuilding, puberty and pounds fluctuation will also be responsible for these unwanted marks.
Can stretch marks go aside? Of course they can. Those unattractive lines, those markings in your skin, after the skin has been stretched to its limit. They’re hard to cover up and camouflage. Some stretch marks are so bad that they can be felt if you run your fingers along your skin.
Very helpful and Great information,
