What percentage of pregnant women do you think are contaminated with toxic chemicals?
A new study from the university of California has revealed from a sample size of 268, the figure is 100 percent. Not a very good figure.
In the study, it claims that “certain PCBs, organochlorine pesticides, PFCs, phenols, PBDEs, phthalates, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and perchlorate were detected in 99 to 100% of pregnant women.” Many of which are banned substances in products.
So should expectant mothers be worried about this new finding? Well you shouldn’t loss too much sleep over it. The contamination found is very minute and the toxic content is not high enough to cause harm to the new born.
But these toxic chemicals in medium to high doses can become quite harmful to the body leading to medical issues such as infertility, cancer or other disorders.
So I guess you’re wondering how these toxic chemicals found its way to our human bodies?
Well the most obvious one is pesticides. This is found in most non-organic foods, and many non- organic personal care products including skin care and makeup.
Another common toxin is phthalates. Mostly found in skin care, perfumes, makeup, hair products, sunscreens and many cleansers. Phthalates are known as “endocrine disruptors” because they interfere with normal endocrine system function potentially leading to obesity and birth defect.
Then you have phenols, PBDEs, phthalates, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and perchlorate……..The list goes on and on.
The fact is, we live in a world surrounded by toxic chemicals, from the air we breath to the water we drink. But what’s worse is that the government allows thousands of other controllable chemicals (which can be avoided) to be allowed in food and personal care products.
– Processed /packaged food are injected with an array of toxic chemicals such as preservatives and pesticides.
– Skin care products use parabens, SLS, petrochemicals and an many other toxic ingredients
– Laundry powder and detergents are filled with chemicals
– Pefumes is a bottle of chemical
Is no wonder the percentage of expectant mothers contaminated with toxic chemicals is 100%. I’m surprised it’s not 110%
