A set of healthy nails can be a real asset for you. Not only can it be a great indicator for your health and a very effective grooming tool, but a set of beautiful nails transpires a set of very beautiful hands. You cannot have beautiful hands without gleaming healthy nails.
Healthy nails are smooth, without ridges or grooves. They’re uniform in color and consistency and free of spots, discoloration, indentations, splits, curls and nail pitting.
Proper care and attention is required to keep nails strong and healthy. Here are some helpful tips:
– Clean under your nails regularly and keep you nails dry to prevent the build up of bacteria and fungi.
– Keep your nails away from soapy waters for extended periods of them as it can weaken your nails
– Try to quite the habit of biting nails
– Buff your nails daily to create a shinny nail effect.
– Nails like your skin needs proper hydration and protection. Keep it constantly moisturised using a nail lotion or nail oil
– Don’t constantly use nail polish remover as the alcohol will dry up your nails. After use, remember to apply a nail lotion or oil to rehydrate.
– Don’t use your fingernails to poke or pry things. Wear gloves to protect your hands and nails if you must do heavy duty work. The only thing you should be using your nails to pick is your nose and your ears.
– Trim and file your nails regularly to achieve the desired shape
As mentioned above, nails can be a great indicator for your internal health. Unusual nail colour and deformation can be early signs of illness or diseases that require medical attention.
– Food plays a major role for the good looks of your nails. If your nails are too brittle and dry, you should increase the consumption of food that items rich in vitamins, minerals and enzymes such as apricots, cheese, milk, chicken, fish, almonds, broccoli, carrot, eggs, whole grains and fruits
