WHO? – Anyone can participate. You don’t need to be chewing on “rabbit food” to participate in the fun filled activities.
WHAT? – World Vegan Day is an opportunity for vegans and their friends to celebrate and promote veganism. World Vegan Day is celebrated in many different ways, from a simple birthday party to a full vegan festival with exhibitions of vegan food and products, talks on nutrition and cooking demonstrations.
WHEN? World Vegan Day is every year on November 1st (since 1994). This year will be no different. It will be on the 1st of November 2010. Celebrations and festival events may vary according to your Country and State. Lets make this the best vegan day ever.
WHERE? World Vegan Day is celebrated internationally all over the world. In Australia the celebrations will be all things vegan. Read below to find out the events that are happening in Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, Adelaide and Queensland.
In Melbourne the annual festival will be held on Sunday the 31st of October (10am – 5pm) at the beautiful Melbourne Abbotsford Convent (1 St Heliers St, Abbotsford), and mirrors events around the world where those interested in finding out more about this healthy and ethical way of life can enjoy a day filled with food, stalls, music, talks and information.
Local businesses and organisations will bring you the best and latest, and speed dating is always a hit! This year there will be more stalls, more space and a more activities to explore. World Vegan Day Melbourne is an accessible and family friendly event, run entirely by volunteers. Bring your family and friends along.
In Perth, Animal Rights Advocates will be holding the World Vegan Day event at the Earthwise Community Centre (315 Bagot Road, Subiaco) on Saturday 30 October 2010 between 10am – 2pm. There will be a Cruelty Free Festival the weekend prior to World Vegan Day. There is also plans for a movie screening at Northbridge piazza, stalls, food, a wealth of literature and lots of people who are either vegan already or curious about veganism and animal rights.
If you live in Perth, you maybe able to lend your helping hand. help is needed with many things, from making cupcakes to arranging the venue, planning the entertainment, helping out with media and running things on the day. For Sydney Siders. This years World Vegan Day will bring you a Cruelty Free Festival on Sunday 7th of November (10am – 7pm) at Belmore Park, Hay Street, Haymarket (across the road from Central Station). You can save animals at the Cruelty Free Living Festival!Events includes;
Tempting – Over 60 Stalls full of food, wine and cruelty-free products
Inspiring – Cooking demonstrations and presentations
Entertaining – 2 stages of live entertainment and face painting for the kids
Relaxing – Free open-air yoga and meditation workshops
Come along to the Sydney Vegan Cruelty Free Festival for a fun-filled day of live entertainment and discover which companies test on animals, learn how to volunteer with an animal rescue group, sponsor a rescued moon-bear or baby orang-utan, try delicious vegan food, adopt a homeless cat or dog, join an animals rights group and much more. Centrally located Belmore Park in Haymarket will be the setting for the Festival which will feature two stages of live entertainment, cooking demonstrations, over 60 stalls laden with cruelty free products and delicious vegan food and much more.
For Adelaide, don’t miss this year’s much anticipated Adelaide Vegan Festival! It will be held on the 14th of November between 10am – 5pm at Whitmore Square/ Ivaritji, Adelaide, CBD. This event will include a fashion catwalk, pet zone, and kids zone as well as guest speakers, live music from local and international stars, as well as movie screenings and cooking demos.
There will be over 60 compassionate market stalls as well as face painting, interactive workshops, dance performances, yoga, poetry, poster competitions, raffles and much more! Adelaide’s Vegan Festival is pet and wheelchair friendly. It is a zero waste and picnic-style event so BYO picnic plates and cutlery!
For Queenslanders, you may want to chill with a vegan BBQ lunch on the 6th of November 2010 at 12 noon. The vegan lunch will be held at Orleigh Park, West End – RSVP By:30/10/2010. Contact (07) 3300 9320 to book a place.
