Green Celebrity of the Month – Miranda Kerr

This down to earth Victoria Secret Angel is our Green Eco Celebrity of the month.

Miranda Kerr was recently involved in an in-depth interview with ‘Eco Stiletto’ discussing her passion as an environmentalist and her deep involvement with the Australian koala preservation.

Miranda Kerr was putting her body on the line for the koalas with her daring move to pose nude for Rolling Stone Nude shoot to raise awareness of koalas Photos.

“I feel strongly about the need to protect our natural environment because it supports our life – it really is that simple,” Kerr tells the magazine, in stores on Wednesday.

The campaign aims to protect koalas’ natural habitat.

“My hometown of Gunnedah has one of the largest koala populations. I was excited to be on the cover of Rolling Stone in support of preserving the koalas. Koalas are disappearing. Loss of koala habitat and koala food trees—they eat eucalyptus leaves—are the leading koala threats.” Miranda explains

Miranda is not just a pretty face. Her involvement with various charity organizations is something to be admired. Her support for the Kids help line increases awareness for the struggling kids suffering from mental and psycological bondage moves us closer with facing the alarming facts of child suicide deaths in Australia.

“The other charity that I actively support is Kids Helpline Australia, which is the only 24 hour, seven day a week service in Australia that children as young as five through to young adults up to the age of 25 can reach out to. I am involved in their latest project Too Many Too Soon, which is aimed at reducing the alarming rate of youth suicide.”

As a new mom, I’m sure with Miranda’s compassion towards children, she will not only make a great model on the catwalk, but also a great model parent.

From children to environmental, Miranda also has strong ties with Greenpeace and other eco organizations “Also, my family and I have always supported Greenpeace, which has offices in more than 40 countries around the world,” she said.

We all know of Miranda’s own organic skin care brand “Kora”, but lets not forget Miranda’s strong support for organic and eco-friendly farming practices.

“I also support an Australian organic garden school project, started by the Biological Farmers of Australia, which [teaches students] organic methods of gardening. Students gain a better understanding of how gardening and farming practices affect the environment, and how they can improve both soils and the quality of their food while working in harmony with the environment.”

From animals to children, to plants and organic farming, this eco chic is a great role model for her adoring fans. Keep up the good work Miranda.
