Fruit Juice or Soda – Which is Healthier
The real question should be “Which is more harmful to your health”? The fact of the matter is, most fruit juices we consume are bottled, with over-processed and pasteurized fruits that contains only a hint of the nutrients it originally had. You add to it all the preservatives, chemicals and high concentration of artificial sweeteners, and it’s probably healthier going for a can of Pepsi.
Most processed fruit juices are also extremely high in fructose (corn syrup). In fact, a glass of fruit juice typically contains more calories than a glass of soda. For instance, a glass of Pepsi has 100 calories, versus 152 calories in an equivalent serving of apple juice and 112 in a cup of orange juice. The result is an overload of sugar that floods the liver, increasing the risk of diabetes and heart disease.
Freshly squeezed fruit juice on the other hand is by far much much healthier than a can of soda. Fresh juice is rich in fiber, antioxidants, minerals, essential fatty acids, proteins and other vital nutrients that work in conjunction with one another to nourish the body. Fresh juices are also rich in living enzymes that aid in digestive health and help to cultivate a strong immune system.
Preferably, if you have the time, squeeze your own fresh juice using organic fruits (free from herbicides & pesticides) and drinking it right away. It’s very important to drink it ASAP because every second that goes by after juicing, the nutritional content and enzymes continue to breakdown making the health benefits of the juice less potent. — Now you can imagine the nutritional content of the bottled juice after it’s been in there for weeks and months (probably close to zero natural nutrients).
Freshly squeezed juice is a great way to get your vitamins and minerals. Try to limit the intake of bottled juice to minimize the risk of diabetes and heart disease.
