Cleansing

In the shower, wash, rinse and condition your hair. Apply a deep conditioning or hot oil treatment and put on shower cap. Cleanse your face with your favorite organic cleanser making sure your face is clean and makeup free. Use a gentle scrub to remove dead skin cells. This insures that your pores are clear and open during the aromatic detoxifying steaming process.

Steaming

Combine a handful of each: fresh mint or peppermint, lavender, chamomile, rosehip and a few orange or lemon peels. Place the mixture in a large bowl and fill the bowl a little over half full with hot water. Cover your head with a towel, put your face over the bowl, breathe in and steam for about five – ten minutes.

Splash your face with cool water, gently pat dry and apply to your face, throat and chest your favorite clay, gel, or hydrating mask, avoiding the eye area and brows.

Soaking

Run a bath with hot water and add a beautiful herbal bath soak. To make an aromatic, soothing and healing bath soak, use one teaspoon each of botanicals such as sage, eucalyptus, lemon grass, lemon oil, rosemary and pepperment. Wrap them in a 5″ x 5″ cheesecloth bag and tie at the top. Toss the bag into the hot bath and breathe in the botanicals as they melt your stress away. Other aromatherapy bathing botanicals are mint, rose petals, lavender, chamomile and orange peel.

Bath salts are wonderful for easing muscles and removing toxins from skin. Mix them into your bath with the botanicals for an extra benefit.

Light candles in the bathroom and play calm music or nature sounds. Close your eyes and let the steam from the bath, filled with the healing botanicals, relax you. The steam also prevents the facial mask from drying out, so the minerals in the mask have time to soak into the skin. Soak no more than 10 – 15 minutes.

Absorbing

When finished drain tub and taking a quick shower removing the hair conditioner and facial mask. Next, use an exfoliant (body scrub, sponge, clean washcloth or brush) and scrub away dead skin. This really gets the circulation flowing all over the body (especially arms and legs). Remember bath sponges and brushes should be left to air out in dry place to avoid bacteria build-up. Sponges can be machine washed weekly with clothes.

Moisturise your entire body with rich moisture cream or body oil. Start at the feet and work up the legs toward the heart for increased circulation. Use a body moisturiser specifically for the body and use a facial moisturiser specifically for the face. Don’t mix and match as skin is different for areas of the face and body. Remember to moisturize when your skin is still wet so the moisturiser can seal in the skin’s moisture. Your lotion will last longer too.

Replenish your inner with lost fluid. Drink 1 – 2 cups of pure spring water or make yourself a cup of warm lemon tea wit honey.

Retiring When your hair is dry, retire for the night. For sweet dreams, spray your pillow and bed sheets with a floral mist. A scent in lavender or rose is a good, soothing choice. Lie down and relax. Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Sweet dreams

The next morning when you wake up, you will feel rejuvenated and your skin will be absolutely glowing. Don’t be alarmed if your face looks a bit inflamed, that’s just the body getting rid of all the toxins from the body.
