Eye Concealer Tips

Posted by admin | organic makeup | Thursday 24 June 2010 2:01 pm
In the dark with dim lighting, wrinkles, fine lines and blemishes around the eyes are difficult to spot. It is during the day, under the unforgiving sunlight and strong flourescent lighting that every skin blemish becomes noticeable. Makeup concealers help hide the imperfections, and is great at covering fine lines and dark eye circles. But the effects can back fire on you if concealers are not applied correctly. You end up with a creasing caking effect that can become worst than the blemishes themselves, and you end up with an uneven look that can become embarrassing to show.

Here are a few eye concealer tricks and trades you can employ to avoid the cracks from settling in.

Is Your Makeup Infested with Bacteria? Throw it Away NOW!

Posted by admin | organic makeup | Saturday 3 October 2009 5:11 pm
Would you rub germs and bacteria on your face? Well that is exactly what you are doing when you are reusing makeup after a certain period of time. It’s quite filthy when you think about it. If you put your 6 months old makeup under a microscope, you will be horrified to find the germs crawling, swimming and doing acrobatic moves under your very eyes. Disgusting thought? It’s a disgusting fact!

The shelf life for most makeup that has been opened and used is normally around 3 - 6 months. Any makeup that comes in contact with the eyes and eye fluid is the perfect breeding ground for bacteria - mascaras, eye liners and eye shadows should belong in the rubbish bin after 3 months. Bacteria such as  Staph, yeast and fungal can develop and if the bacteria gets into your eyes, you may develop eye infections such as conjuctivitus or other more serious eye conditions.

So how long before you throw away your makeup? Find out what the shelf life is for each makeup product once it has been used for the first time.

By Sophie Lee

Looking for a foundation? Ready to cover those unsightly imperfections. Take your pick from the following 8 foundation types, all working in combination to provide you with the perfect coverage suited for your skin. Lets start with the most common - the liquid foundation.

Liquid Foundation - is the most readily found and is suited to most, if not all - skin types. It is available in formulations from oil-free, oil-absorbing formulas to moisturizing formulas and gives varying degrees of sheer to medium coverage depending on the brand and the formula. You can purchase liquid foundation in a bottle or a tube. When applied, it gives you more coverage than a tinted moisturizer but less than a creme foundation.

Organic Foundation Makeup Tips

Posted by admin | organic makeup | Thursday 23 April 2009 2:39 pm
Makeup foundation sits on the skin, covers most of the face, and we use more of it than most makeup items. Start to scan ingredient lists and avoid foundations that contain mineral oil and petroleum, because they tend to block pores, which may make you more prone to lumpy red spots or to little white pimples that break out under the skin’s surface.

As a shortcut, without having to read the entire ingredients list, look for the expression “non-comedogenic” on the packaging or one which is organic.

Organic Eye Makeup Tips

Posted by admin | organic makeup | Monday 6 April 2009 3:26 am
Unless if you are wearing a low cut top exposing your cleavage, then usually your eyes are the first feature people notice when meeting you for the first time. So it is important to make the most in defining your own eyes by giving them careful attention to create the look you want.

The issues for eye makeup are similar to those for other makeup: do you want toxic chemicals such as mineral oil, petroleum, chemical colourings, or aluminium in your eye makeup? Or do you want something natural such as an organic or mineral makeup.
