| Would you rub germs and bacteria on your face? Well that is exactly what you are doing when you are reusing makeup after a certain period of time. It’s quite filthy when you think about it. If you put your 6 months old makeup under a microscope, you will be horrified to find the germs crawling, swimming and doing acrobatic moves under your very eyes. Disgusting thought? Bacteria such as Staph, yeast and fungal can develop and if the bacteria gets into your eyes, you may develop eye infections such as conjuctivitus or other more serious eye conditions.

| Makeup foundation sits on the skin, covers most of the face, and we use more of it than most makeup items. Start to scan ingredient lists and avoid foundations that contain mineral oil and petroleum, because they tend to block pores, which may make you more prone to lumpy red spots or to little white pimples that break out under the skin’s surface.
As a shortcut, without having to read the entire ingredients list, look for the expression “non-comedogenic” on the packaging or one which is organic. |
