Self Acceptance
Some call it self-esteem, others self-love. Accept feeling low when it happens. To expect to always be at a level of high confidence may cause you to feel worse when you are feeling low. Self acceptance is being loving and happy with who you are NOW. Be honest with yourself and your feelings, all of us experience low self confidence at some point. Feelings like the weather is fluctuating all the time. Embrace these changes in thoughts.
Increase Awareness
Become aware of the situations or circumstances when you feel less confident. What are the triggers that are causing you be feeling blue and down. By becoming more aware, you’ll eventually identify the triggers so that you can face it head on. In most instances, you will be facing your fears and it is up to you to conquer your negative thoughts. A effective way to become more aware is to Keep a journal to see patterns that can further your awareness about values or beliefs around your performances in particular situations.
Be Critical but Stay Away From Negative Self-Talk
Know yourself. Critical analysis of yourself is important, but avoid applying too much attention to your negative self-talk. Critical analysis is about dealing with the facts of your shortcomings, whereas negative self-talk is irrational and not built on realistic facts. Work out a more realistic response to your negative voice. Realise that your negative voice does not reflect what other people think about you.
Collect Positive Evidence
Love yourself. Most of the time, we are thinking about our negative traits. It is time to put the brakes on and start appreciating our own attractive character. Write a list of at least 10 things that you like about yourself. Also ask friends and family what they value in you. Use this list to counter negative thoughts.
Focus on Gratitude
Be grateful for the things you already have and the people that you are surrounding with. When you are grateful, you feel fullness and acceptance allowing you to give your gifts more fully to the world. To focus on gratitude will help counter critical thoughts in regards to yourself and others. Kind thoughts about others have a positive ripple effect on ourselves.
Become More Assertive
Now I’m not asking you to be a complaining bitch being rude to the people around you to get what you want. To be more assertive means firstly to know your purpose and direction in life and challenging yourself to be on the edge and asserting your energy in a non-aggressive way to motivate the people around you to become more productive and lively to serve out the purpose.
Be Physically Fit and Active
I emphasize that appearance is very important. Putting the general wellness and health of exercising aside. We are all drawn towards some form of superficial desires. Our mind tells us that if we are looking physically fit and if we are looking sharp glowing with radiance, then automatically our mind will say to us we are attractive and confident. Being fit gives strength to your body and mind that considerably impacts on your confidence.
Establish a Good Posture
A good posture contributes to feeling and appearing confident. Erect your shoulders, raise your head and look people in the eyes; this will contribute to you feeling more confident.
Looking after Yourself
This is about your own branding and packaging. Self-care can range from how you dress, how you fix your hair, what you eat and when you sleep. Self care shows up in appearance. To look your best, to be rested and well nourished is to tell the world, including yourself, that you matter.
Educate Yourself Everyday
NEVER STOP LEARNING. Learn new skills and learning new things stimulates confidence. This may range from challenging yourself in situations that provoke your low self-confidence like reading a motivational book, talking to your friends, taking up a new hobby or improving on work related skills. Mastering something that seems challenging is fantastic for boosting self confidence.
