Are Bella Lucce products natural?
Bella Luccè strives to create a luxurious product collection with a much more natural focus than most commercial product lines. We use natural alternatives whenever possible and blend Mother Nature with a bit of science to create a safe, effective product line. This commitment to creating natural products means you'll never find the following in our product range:
* Petrochemicals or petroleum-based materials
* Silicones
* Harsh sulfate detergents
* Parabens
* Artificial colors
*Phthalates

What you will find is an abundance of natural clays, organic vegetable oils, nourishing botanical extracts, real fruit powders and emollient butters. More than 95% of our products do not contain artificial preservatives (please see below for more information) and more than half are naturally fragranced. When perfumes are used, we select the highest quality, skin safe fragrances and add them in small concentrations (less than 1%). If you’re looking for 100% natural products, then we highly recommend our French Polynesian Collection, Signature Peppermint Series and Peruvian Chocolate range. You’ll also find an array of facial products, bath luxuries and body masks that are completely natural.

We’re fiercely protective of the word “natural” and do not support the frequent exploitation of the natural concept by the current market. Many companies would call each of our products all-natural; but, in the interest of full disclosure, we remain firm in our commitment to preserving the integrity of that word. How are Bella Luccè products preserved?
Bella Luccè maintains a strong commitment to using natural alternatives whenever possible. Through extensive research and development, we’ve developed a collection of products that possess amazing stability and generous shelf lives. We omit preservative systems in products whose chemistry doesn’t require them; many companies use a “blanket” preservative system in every product regardless of their chemistry, and we have consciously chosen to not follow suit. For products which do require preservation, we use a combination of natural preservatives, including vitamin E and potassium sorbate. Additionally, we have carefully pH balanced our products to create an environment that’s inhospitable to contaminants, so bacteria and fungi can’t flourish.

A few products, despite our best efforts, do require the use of a lab-created preservative. We clearly disclose all ingredients on each product label and respect those clients who wish to avoid them completely. Our preservative system is paraben-free and has a 30 year track record of safety and efficacy. The only products in our collection which utilize this system are:

Since the products are so natural, do they have a short shelf life?
Our products are designed to mainain both their freshness and integrity for 12 months unopened. Once unsealed, we recommend that they be used within 6 months. These long shelf lives are achieved through our commitment to selecting ingredients which oxidize slowly and have a higher level of stability. In addition, we clearly label each product with a POA (Period After Opening) symbol, a feature that’s mandated in Europe. This symbol will instruct clients on the appropriate time frame for using their products once opened. Refrigeration and special attention to product storage are NOT required.


Are Bella Lucce's Products Tested On Animals?
Absolutely not. Bella Luccè maintains a strong commitment to cruelty-free products. Not only do we abstain from testing our finished products on animals, we also monitor the vendors who supply our raw materials to ensure they are not engaging in any sort of animal testing before the materials reach our manufacturing facility. Bella Luccè is an active participant in PETA’s “Cruelty Free” campaign and we have been granted the right to display their Cruelty Free emblem.



Do they incorporate any ingredients derived from animals?
We do include silk and honey in selected products, because they impart wonderfully unique properties to the finished product. These materials can be obtained without harming the animals and we vigilantly source these two ingredients from vendors with a proven track record of responsible harvesting. We do not use any animal fats or milks as these materials require the animals to endure conditions with which we’re not comfortable. This means that approximately 85% of the Bella Luccè collection is vegan (meaning they are completely free from animal ingredients). We display a special symbol in conjunction with these items which indicates that they are safe for vegan consumers. The remaining 15%, while not vegan, is still cruelty-free.

Why are Bella Lucce's mask in a powder format?
Bella Luccè masks are radically different- not just in their composition, but in their presentation as well. Each one of our signature masks are packaged in a powder format that needs to be blended with a “mixer” before application. The beauty of this system is three-fold: First, the system allows you to offer your clients a 100% natural product without the presence of artificial fragrances or preservatives which can potentially irritate delicate facial skin. Second, this dry system enables you to use one product for virtually any skin type. The key is in the “mixer”: this material is targeted to the client’s skin type, which means you can stock just one product, yet still achieve incredible versatility. Finally, clients love watching you mix up a mask tailored specifically to their needs. The application of a fresh, customizable mask is a memorable experience.

Which mask is best for a particular skin type?
The Bella Lucce mask system is extremely flexible. The best way to tailor each mask is by choosing an appropriate “mixer” targeted to your client’s skin type. To blend a mask, just mix the prescribed amount of powder with the appropriate proportion of your mixer in a clean bowl. The literature accompanying your order will describe the proportions and Bella Luccè includes a scoop in every product to make measurements a breeze. The process of blending a mask takes 30-45 seconds in total. We suggest the following mixers according to skin type...choosing a compatible mixer boosts each mask's efficacy:

Combination & Sensitive: milk, water or yogurt (extremely gentle) Mature: honey (gentle skin conditioner) or carrot juice (added beta-carotene) Oily:: milk, water, tomato or citrus juices (act as astringents) Dry: olive or sunflower oils, heavy cream (wonderful moisturizers) With that said, each mask does impart its own unique properties.

Detoxifying Ginger-Wasabi Mask: A powerful purifying mask that will cleanse and brighten the skin with crushed freshwater pearls as ginger stimulate sluggish circulation. Best suited for oily and combination skin; not recommended for sensitive skin.

Guavaberry Revitalizing Mask: Facial tissue is enriched with a cocktail of potent antioxidants and gentle skin conditioners as natural fruit acids dissolve the invisible web that allows expired cells to cling to the surface of the skin. A versatile mask for all skin types.

Mediterranean Wine & Honey: Brimming with potent antioxidants, this mask is especially adept at fortifying mature and/or sun damaged skin.

Tropical Hawaiian Fruit Peel: Abundant with fruit acids and enzymes, this mask is wonderful for balancing pigmentation, correcting trouble spots and refining skin texture.

Strawberries & Cream: Especially gentle, this mask is wonderful for sensitive skin. Packed with buttermilk, which smoothes skin, and strawberries, which boost brightness.

Sea Kelp & Green Tea: Thanks to its high concentration of clays, this mask deeply detoxifies and vacuums the pores, making it the perfect choice for oily and acne prone skin.

Warming Pumpkin: Enriched with pumpkin enzymes and powerful vitamins, this mask fortifies mature skin and provides all skin types with noticeable softening and improved texture.

Peruvian Chocolate: Overflowing with organic cocoa and coconut milk, this mask restores skin’s suppleness while saturating the tissue with natural antioxidants.

Why does my Tahitian Body Glaze appear to be solidifying?
Because it is! Authentic Monoi de Tahiti Oil is created by macerating Tiare flowers in coconut oil; coconut oil solidifies at temperatures below 68 degrees F, and it often solidifies unevenly- meaning half the bottle may be a golden liquid while the other half of the same bottle looks solid. Our Tahitian Body Glaze may might solidify while on retail shelves, but you can rest assured that the process will not affect the integrity of the product in any way. The labels on that product carry instructions for reheating by the end user (holding in your palms for a few moments or placing under warm, running water) and the process takes just a moment. If the solidification is bothersome, try adjusting your room temperature slightly up or down to effect the change one way or another, or display the products near a sunny window.

I’ve noticed a slight change in the color of a few products. Is this normal?
Absolutely. Because our products are natural, a select few may undergo some change. We could prevent these changes by dumping synthetic chemicals into every batch, but what would be the fun in that? Read on for a listing of any product which may undergo any type of transformation, but rest assured that any change is purely aesthetic and does not affect the efficacy or safety of the product. We've found that consumers appreciate the subtlties of natural products and these products sell as well as any of our others (sometimes better)!

Our Face Firming Serum may change from a butter yellow to a slightly brighter yellow. This is due to the presence of the CoQ10 enzyme. The enzyme is naturally yellow and becomes brighter as it’s exposed to light. Again, this is a completely natural process and will not affect the product in any way. If you purchase other products that contain CoQ10 and they don’t have this yellow tinge, then the CoQ10 is not present in concentrations which are significant enough to yield the results for which this potent ingredient is celebrated.

Our Wildberry Body Polish contains powdered strawberries in a blend of natural oils and butters. If a significant amount of water comes into contact with this product, then the strawberries are essentially “rehydrated” and the product may undergo a color change. This is the expected result from using natural strawberries and each jar contains clear instructions explaining to the consumer how to minimize or prevent any color change. This product will not change color when sealed and sitting on retail shelves as it is impervious to water contact in that condition. In fact, it's one of our all-time best sellers!
